I found this plaque to Joseph Conrad outside the Fullerton Hotel, so had to post it....

We spent the morning unsuccessfully trying to negotiate with the Thai embassy for visas which we need to smooth the entry into Phuket by yacht. A long story, but not a happy ending. So now we will have to haggle with the immigration people on arrival.

I found the sail repair tape at Martintech on Kitchener Road - nice to see that so many of the old street names have survived!

So now we are all set for departure tomorrow morning. Forecast is for light winds against us, so looks like a bit of motoring to start - but then the forecasts have rarely been spot on during this trip, so we hope for more!

Next post tomorrow by sat phone if I can get the setup all working....

Extra: "Fujin" is the Japanese God of Wind. The name is composed of two Chinese characters - "Fu" meaning wind and "Jin" meaning god. If you swap the order of the characters, you don't pronouce it "jinfu" - instead it is pronouced "kamikaze" or divine wind....
