Banana Splitapalooza

Gabriellas Grandpa
What a day this has been. It all started a few weeks back when I thought it would be nice to treat the local kids that have video conferences with my granddaughter Gabriellas' class to a hot dog and banana split treat after the video chat. At the time it sounded like a no-brainer and would be easy to pull off. As time drew near I was getting all the supplies and hunting down the good stateside hot dogs(Oscar Meyer). In Mexico you have to go to great lengths and perserverence to find the right stuff.....you all up north in the land of plentyt have it made. Anyway, as I was purchasing all the items I noticed that this is going to cost a few bucks. Mustard, catsup, hot dog relish, tomatos, onions, hot dogs(at a dollar a piece), buns, potato chips, bananas, chocolate...strawberry...vanilla ice cream(they don't keep that in stock at one store), chocolate syrup, whip cream, maraschino cherries, plates, cups spoons, sodas. If I could walk into just 2 stores and get those items together it would be sweet......but nooooo, several stores in three different towns. Now comes the actual putting everything together phase as the kids march down the hill to the lagoon-side restaurant. I have it at the restaurant because they have internet hook-up and the capacity to help me put this together. I also had great help from cruisers Tom and Barbara on Hooligan and Jen on Lady Home. All that work and worry paid big dividends in the faces of these village kids. And they verbally let me know that it was MUY BUENO! I'm glad that this is over and trust me when I say I will sleep wonderfully tonight.
