Ba muoi Ba was the name of the Vietnamese beer we drank and the name translated simply means 33......and that's how many years of sobriety I have now achieved. I will get back to this after I catch up on my travels. I left Loreto after a very nice stay and sailed up to Punta Pulpito and anchored around the corner of the regular anchorage to take advantage of the protection from the southerly wind and waves. After a peaceful 4 hours of calm waters the wind shifted out of the north and it was rolly for most of the night....I guess it was not that good of an idea to anchor around the corner. Sail from Punta Pulpito to El Burro cove in Bahia Concepcion. Stayed there for 2 nights and then motor-sailed to Santa Rosalia. I stayed in the Singlar marina for a couple nights (my first marina since Mazatlan on my way south) and went to my favorite restaurant, Tercos Pollitito, and enjoy my smoked squid dip. I left Santa Rosallia at 5:30am so I could do a day passage to Guaymas as opposed to an overnighter which I normally do. It was a wonderful passage and pulled into Guaymas and tied up about 15 minutes before dark. My good friend Horacio had my car waiting for me and he even had the starter fixed and the oil changed.......aren't theses Mexican hosts the greatest? Now I will hang around here for a little more than a week getting the boat pickled and hauled out of the water for a hot summer storage.
Can you imagine being a fallen down drunk and knuckle dragging scumbag for more than 20 years, then finding sobriety and trying to be an OK guy for the rest of your working life and being rewarded with THE BEST GRANDDAUGHTER ever and being able to go cruising in your retirement. That's what has happened to me and I THANK GOD on a daily basis for this wonderful outcome. I could have kept on drinking and have ended up in jail for the rest of my life or dead. I still question and have a hard time accepting the blessings that have been bestowed on me.....I want to thank God for His presence in my life. I also want to thank my son for accepting me back into his life and trusting me with the most precious person to me...Gabriella. And if that isn't enough, I couldn't have a better daughter-in-law in Karen. And of course Gabriella....she knows where I stand with her.....life cannot get any better.
