Video chat flop

Gabriellas G-Pa
As I said in my previous post, I was setting up to have a wonderful video chat....Skype...between the 30 kids in the 1st to 6th grade here in Colimilla and Gabriellas 5th grade class in Rancho Cordova. Let me explain what goes into getting this thing to work. First I contact the teacher here in Colimilla and get her to agree to a day and time. Then I email Gabriellas teacher and ask if that day and time is agreeable with her schedule. Gabriellas teacher wanted the time changed a little bit so I had to touch base with the Maestra here and it was OK. Then I have to find a venue that has internet and would put up with having all the kids there. In the past, I have used Mary's restaurant, Yoanas house, and Fortinos restaurant. This time I choose Fortinos because their daughter Camilla went to the school, or so I thought. This year she goes to school across the lagoon in Barra de Navidad. The elementary school here does not have WIFI. So I baked 3 batches of brownies and had Yoanas mom pick up 8 2 litre cartons of leche light(2% milk) to be dropped off at Fortinos. This time I brought my 24 inch TV and hooked it up to my laptop so the kids can have a better viewing experience. I did some testing with Grandma Pat and Karen(my daughter-in-law) to make sure everything was OK. Then, 3 minutes before the start of the chat and with all my kids showing up on time(this time) the internet went down. The restaurant owner reset the DSL modem and nada...then she was running around the place trying to figure out what the problem was. Then she came back into the restaurant and said her phone line was down.....right at the crucial moment of the chat. Some time has passed while all this is happening and the maestra said the kids would have to be getting back to school....so we dished out the brownies and milk and I watched while the kids were messing up all the nice tableclothes. As they were marching out of the restaurant the internet came back on and I called Mrs. Calderon and explained what happened. She was gracious of course, but I was a mess. I don't take this kind of failure that well. I packed up everything and took it back to the boat. Then I went into Barra to sulk and get a hamburger......IF I was a drinker, I would've gotten smashed. Instead I had a double Coca light...diet coke. Then the next day I decided at the last minute to sail down to Santiago to get my head straight. I know..I know it wasn't that big a deal to everyone...but to me it was.
