SUCCESS...thank God it was a success. Changed the venue to my translators house with guaranteed wifi connection. The kids had to march up the steep hill to Yoanas house and to make up for the effort we barbecued hamburgers for the kids. My gracious hosts Enrique and Maria(Yoanas dad and mom) did the hamburgers and french fries for the kids. They ate when they got there because it was the latest timing we've had for the chat and I promised them lunch. Then after lunch we had the chat with Gabriellas class in Rancho Cordova. I think I will be happy when Gabriella goes past the sixth grade, because I can change schools and have a little older group chat.....then again, it might be my undoing because of the age thing. I won't have another video chat until I return from Zihuatanejo on my way north.
This day cruise to Tenacatita and back to Barra is getting to be a common thing lately. First, I took Yoana and family and friend and then last Saturday I took the doctor of the local clinic in Colimilla and her sister and one of the students at the primary school. It was so much fun to treat locals to a little sailing fun and to get away from their little village on the peninsula. We had two whales cross over in front of us that helped make it a fun day. And of course we had the decadent treat of ice cream in half cantaloupes. We made turkey/cheese and tuna sandwiches and then went ashore to explore. On the way back, Lilian, Sofia, and Manuel swam all the way back to the boat from the beach and I had to take the dinghy back. I think something like this will be my volunteerism thing in this area. Leaving for Zihuatanejo right after the SuperBowl and maybe even Acapulco.
