We are now back in flat water and am ready to have my last Skype sessions for the schools. I got my specialty bolts from Totalyachtworks in Mazatlan really fast with DHL. Bob and his crew in Mazatlan has came through for me again....love this business even though he is Canadien(inside joke). Put all the parts back on the engine and it is purring just fine with no oil leaking from anywhere. The next morning Joe(my ex) and I went out to Isla Grande(Ixtapa) to clean our bottoms and to get a good head start for our northbound trek. Partly because a cruiser was boarded and robbed at gunpoint on his boat in Caleta de Campos, we decided to bypass that anchorage and go direct to Santiago doing an overnighter. All of last year I was fortunate to not get beat up by bad weather conditions while underway because I was patient and didn't mind using my engine a little more. I thought I was doing the same thing this year, but we got caught in a strong northwesterly that had us bouncing like crazy the last six or seven hours going into the Manzanillo/Santiago bay. Was very happy to have the hook down in relatively flat water. Spent a couple days there drying out and then took off for Barra. Motor-sailed up the coast to the laguna and put a drag line in the water to see if I could catch a dorado. No dorado, but a Yellow tail tuna instead. Enrique and family wasn't home so I gave the fish to my local needy family (my laundry lady) and the look of gratitude was awesome. She seems to take in all the wayward kids and she doesn't have any support from anyone. Will be having the season final Skype thursday morning and will feed the school kids peanut butter/jelly and tuna sandwiches with potato chips and milk. Still having fun. Glory be to God. Love you Gabriella! The ex reference....I feel like I'm married, but with no benefits...So I'm giving up my buddy-boat gig to return to a pure singlehander.
