35 Years Sin Alcohol

Well, here it is, another season has passed. I had a nice overnight passage from Lorreto to Guaymas and tied up to the fuel dock. It is so nice to have friends in all the ports and anchorages that I visit. The boat is now hauled out and I'm in the process of getting it ready for six months of storage and hurricane proof.
As the title states, I now have 35 years of sobriety. For you espanol deficient friends, "sin" means NO or WITHOUT. I could go on forever trying to explain the greatness of living without the shackles of an alcohol induced life, but unless you have walked in my shoes or threw up in my toilets, or disrupted a lot of peoples lives, or almost killed a fellow human, you might not get the real meaning of living a sober life is all about. For twenty plus years I was not a very nice human being. Since the start of my sobriety on May 1st, 1978 it has been a slow rebuilding of my life with a few bumps here and there. But it did get better with each passing day. I truly think God said thank you to me with the Greatest gift of all...my absolutely awesome granddaughter Gabriella. At times I feel like I'm enjoying life a little too much and maybe I don't deserve it. But then other times I think this is God's reward for me, for trying to be a decent human and making up for the past wrongdoings. Whatever it is, I have to be the happiest sober person on this earth because of the gift of being able to be a part of my granddaughters life. And God used my son and daughter-in-law to deliver this precious gift to me. A lot of thanks has to go to them for being so gracious in letting me share in their joy of Gabriella. Gabriella, I'm coming home to spend some more precious and memorable time with you.
I praise Jesus, my saviour, giving thanks to him for assisting me in my Sobriety.
