Sand-fill-sand-fill

This is getting to be quite a boring grind. I sand, I fill imperfections in the substrate, I sand some more, I fill some more, on and on. Of course there are some days that I just jump in the car and go visiting. I have Francisco (Pancho) helping me do the decks and cabin tops. Some days he shows up and then I won't see him for a couple of days. Of course I don't complain because his payment is all my left over equipment....compressor, power washer, and spray guns and other odds and ends. And now my living condition....Even with the boat closed up as we sand, there is large amounts of dust throughout. I think the poorest of the poor living in the barrios have cleaner spaces to live than I. Even with all the aforementioned, I still count my blessings that I get to do what I do in this late stage of my life....Thank you Lord Jesus! I noticed my left front tire on my truck was wearing fast on the inside so I went to get the front end aligned and the tires rotated. I did not notice at first, but as the boss jumped in my truck and took it for a spin for the third time, I noticed that they did not have a laser/electronic alignment machine. They did the alignment by the feel of the vehicle when driving down a smooth and level street. After he took it for the fifth drive, he sanctioned it good to go. And it did feel much better with no pull to the right. The cost...$150 pesos=$13.00 u.s. dollars. Only in Mexico! I might not be done until Christmas and then sail away for warmer climes by the 1st of the year. Susan, I filled the boom with pieces of wood and epoxy with the high strength filler. Then later I noticed some more rot down the boom a little further and did the same thing with that new, but much smaller spot. I now have a composite boom. There are only four boats here as opposed to the last time I hauled here, there were about 40. It's very lonely in the yard. The marina portion had one boat a week ago and now has five. They launch from marina seca across the bay then putt-putt over here to the marina to wash the boat and equipment and put everything back together here because there are no docks over at the inexpensive marina seca. I hope to spray the primer on the entire boat this Monday or Tuesday.....then a little filling and touch up and on goes the two-part linear polyurethane.....then it's all downhill from there. Pat, thanks friend for reminding me..nice to hear from you!
