Phil
After an all nighter and having a cruiseliner dodge me I came upon a fishing extravaganza with about 100 boats all looking for the same fish I guess. I had to weave my way through them and the wakes they put out are more serious than wind whipped waves. Pulling into Cabo was quite a wake up considering the travels of the past 10 days. 2 cruise ships ferrying passengers back and forth and all the tourist(cattle) boats with loud and obnoxious sounds emitting from them. I anchored out in front of the hotels and the loud parties on the beach were quite the site. You probably guessed by now that Cabo is not my favorite spot. After 2 nights there it was time to cross the Sea of Cortez for Mazatlan. I sailed almost the entire distance under some brisk winds. I pulled into old town at midnite and told myself to be careful to drop the anchor and get a secure hold. I dropped it with the electric switch instead of my usual manual way while up on the bow. About 2 in the morning I heard pounding on the hull and someone yelling Senior..Senior. My boat was sitting right next to the seawall and I started up the engine and pulled forward fast. After resetting my anchor properly I paid off my rescuers and they stoled my binoculers(they needed them more than I did) and went back to sleep. Next: Marina Mazatlan
