Water...I Make Water!

I better get this post in the blog or I will lose a lot of people who think I'm having too much fun and forgot that I took them along with me. After doing much work on the boat...swapping my prop for a smaller prop while in the water, putting on another raw water pump, and installing my fabulous buy of a watermaker, I decided it's time to shove off for Santiago. I motored out of the lagoon and rounded the corner to turm southeast for the 23 mile day trip to Santiago. I set sail and was doing 3 knots, just enough to let my autopilot work properly. I was excited, but nervous about starting up the watermaker because I didn't know if it would leak or put out fresh water. I let it run for the obligatory 10 minutos and then filled a glass of the water to taste test it since I don't have a meter. It was the best tasting water I've had in along time. As I was revelling in my new toy the wind picked up a little and I was ghosting along at 5 knots in about 7 knots of apparent wind. Life could not be much better than this. I sailed all the way to Santiago while making water and dropped the hook while only using 1/2 gallon of diesel. I spent about 4 days here in Santiago enjoying numerous bus trips to Manzanillo and the town of Santiago and walking the 1 1/2 mile beach walk to the bus stop. In a few minutes I will weigh anchor and head to Zihuatanejo via a couple of anchorages to be named later.
