Treinta Seis Anos Sin Alcohol

I had a nice stay in La Paz and parted ways with my buddy boat Mollyhawk I think this will be the last time(except for small passages) buddy boating....I lose too much freedom in choices of where to go and when to go. If I wanted to be married, I would find some chica and settle down. I left La Paz and motor-sailed all the way to Timbabiche. Left that anchorage the next morning and was going to go all the way to Puerto Escondido. Weather changed that idea for awhile. It was blowing so hard(22 knots) from the direction I was travelling that I put in at San Martes. Then I heard a powerboat come on the radio and asked him what the weather was like around the corner at Aqua Verde. He reported good conditions, so I weighed anchor and continued on north. Sometiimes the wind blows like crazy at different land points and acouple miles away it completely mild. Pulled into Puerto Escondido(my least favorite place in Mexico) and had to stay for a couple nights because of strong winds. I left P E a day too early for Loreto and got my ass handed to me in the open anchorage. I think it was the worst time I've had in any anchorage. I finally got the anchor up and headed downwind to P E. The next day I motored out to Loreto and it was a different day. Today is gorgeous and the winds non were not there. I'm sitting in front of a snack bar/tienda on the pier in the small boat basin writing this thing because it's reliable wifi. I pull anchor tomorrow morning and start my crossing of the sea to Guaymas in hopefully south winds.
From time to time I come across people who just don't understand the addiction to alcohol thing. They offer me a beer or drink and my favorite answer is 'thanks but no thanks, I'm allergic to alcohol'. Then they press it and I tell them that I'm an alcoholic and they say something stupid or look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them how many years I've been sober. Of course I take pride in my tolerance of those that are not educated in the ways of alcoholism. I am one of the fortunate alcoholics that got sober and stayed sober(after the second try) for 36 years. The rewards of this clean living is reuniting with my son and being a live-in nanny for my precious granddaughter Gabriella. Also the fact that I get to retire and cruise Mexico on my boat....even with the bad weather. Thank you Lord Jesus!!!!!
