A New Season
26 January 2015 | Penn's Landing - East End Tortolla
Well, we are back for another season in the islands! We have actually been here for a few weeks opening up the boat - which means cleaning the entire insides with the infamous Vinegar/Water solution and unpacking the super cool "suck the air out" bags. We head out for a few days and back in for either the main furling switch not working; out again to return with the fridge and freezer acting weird; out again to return with a mascerator bellow popped. Like I tell the Captain - "None of it is trip ending. And it couldn't happen in a better place." Relax Mon
This latest return is to rinse down MyDeere, laundry and provisioning for our first guests of the season - the DiMartinos!! Virgins to the island so it will be great fun.
A few high lights thus far - I did get to try out the Naqua Lights my kids gave me for Christmas. They are underwater LED strips to attaché to my paddle board. we gave it a try in Benures Bay (Norman Island) and it was so cool. Once I got over to the more shallow water I just laid down on the board and looked below. Of course on my way back to the boat was freaky scary as it was really dark and all I could see were anchor lights. Having a dark hull boat was hard to pick out. Will definitely do that again but thinking during a 1/2 or full moon. This of course will not happen until mid February as out paddle board burst. A big Shout Out to the Red Paddle Co as they are replacing it! You get what you pay for as the quality is great along with their customer service.
I saw an octopus (Soldiers Bay) and was able to watch him for about 10minutes as he/she went from rock to rock and onward to hide in a piece of brain coral. So graceful. Yesterday while snorkeling George Dog Jim spotted a shark swimming about. Of course we had to follow and he tried out his video recording skills with his camera. Turned out pretty cool. Now we just need a kid onboard to show us how to load it. hahaha
Saw the Michael Bean Pirate Show @ Leverick Bay (after all these years) - that was a fun night.
Before I sign off I would like to say big THANK YOU to Kelley Duruman for finishing out the season leading the ACES Swim Team! To our beautiful daughter Janet for tending to our beloved Bella - I do believe she is in great hands and may not want to return home. There are more but I have just been warned my time is up. Until next time -
