Signs of the South

03 November 2012 | Mile Hammock Bay, Camp LeJeune, NC
sunny mid 50's
From Bogue Sound
The temperature hasn't indicated that we are progressing south, but the sites of the day tell me that we are getting there! Along this stretch of the ICW, we intersect with many ocean inlets. Each time you go past an inlet, invariably you have dolphins swimming around and approaching the boat. I love this. They are so much more sociable than the porpoises we see in Maine.

The other sign of getting south is the pelican. They are the coolest birds, usually dive-bombing into the water for their next meal. I've been looking for them since Norfolk, and I did see one, but today I saw many.

We had an easy day today...only 50 miles. We were anchored by 2:30p...time to enjoy a sunny afternoon with a good book. Almost civilized!
