Still Playing in the Keys

Since leaving Key West, we have been having a lovely time just wandering around the Keys. The weather in the Keys is, in my opinion, nearly perfect with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s always with a breeze that keeps it comfortable. Depending on what the winds are doing, we seek out a spot [...]

Living Your Dreams

Greetings Everyone,

This Key Fits

Greeting everyone! We escaped from Key West three days ago after a stay of almost two weeks. I say escaped as we were held captive by howling east winds which turned an intended two day stay into almost two weeks. However, Key West was great and we explored.

It's blowin' in Key West!

After spending Friday at a lovely anchorage in Newfound Harbor off Big Pine Key, we headed out on Saturday morning for Key West. It was a beautiful day and after only about three hours, we arrived at the harbor entrance and tied up to a dock at a marina in Key West. What a busy place! It is easy to see [...]

The middle Keys

Well ! Our goal has been to slow it all down and hang out here and there and not freeze. Happening! A few days ago we anchored at Shell Key early in the afternoon and again set about the arduous tasks of napping then fishing. Julie reeled in a delightful small fish and when she raised it out of the water [...]

Cruising in the Keys

We left Ft Lauderdale on Monday morning early so we could make the 7am opening of the bridge next to the marina and headed out the Port Everglades inlet to the outside as we made our way down to the Keys. It was a sunny day and the sea was fairly calm. As we were passing Miami, we were suddenly joined [...]

A Pause in the Action

Mr.K
Greetings everyone! We are in southern Florida and the weather is fine. Boats are notoriously humid inside due the contained space and when it is cold outside one is reluctant to open and keep open hatches. But when it is warm the magic is in full force while sleeping with the hatch open and looking at the stars when one rolls over at night. Florida is having a great spell of low humidity and being from Wyoming that’s what I like. There are a great number of boaters in southern FL this time of year. When moving about and around the inlets and waterway it is indeed “heavy traffic”. As heavy as around the southern tip of Manhattan and that is saying something! We are spending time giving the boat what it needs in terms of scrubbing and cleaning off all the staining from northern waters and various insults from the bird world. The boat is becoming her beautiful self once again. Florida is having a “cold snap” as I am writing this (only in the high 60's during the day) so I am occasionally stirring the crock pot containing homemade chicken and sun dried tomato soup (white wine, carrots, potatoes, green peas, minced onion, sun dried tomatoes, cubed chicken breast, broken pieces of whole wheat fettuccine). While we are on the topic of food, some marinas allow grilling at the dock so we have been heavily into the shisckabobs of zucchini, summer squash, onion, red pepper, green pepper, with filet minon wrapped in bacon. Our travels will eventually take us to the Gulf of Mexico. In the near term we will wonder around the end of FL and the keys. Cook something good to eat and stay Happy! Arrivederci for now, Mr. K
