Still Playing in the Keys

Since leaving Key West, we have been having a lovely time just wandering around the Keys. The weather in the Keys is, in my opinion, nearly perfect with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s always with a breeze that keeps it comfortable. Depending on what the winds are doing, we seek out a spot [...]

Living Your Dreams

Greetings Everyone,

This Key Fits

Greeting everyone! We escaped from Key West three days ago after a stay of almost two weeks. I say escaped as we were held captive by howling east winds which turned an intended two day stay into almost two weeks. However, Key West was great and we explored.

It's blowin' in Key West!

After spending Friday at a lovely anchorage in Newfound Harbor off Big Pine Key, we headed out on Saturday morning for Key West. It was a beautiful day and after only about three hours, we arrived at the harbor entrance and tied up to a dock at a marina in Key West. What a busy place! It is easy to see [...]

The middle Keys

Well ! Our goal has been to slow it all down and hang out here and there and not freeze. Happening! A few days ago we anchored at Shell Key early in the afternoon and again set about the arduous tasks of napping then fishing. Julie reeled in a delightful small fish and when she raised it out of the water [...]

Cruising in the Keys

We left Ft Lauderdale on Monday morning early so we could make the 7am opening of the bridge next to the marina and headed out the Port Everglades inlet to the outside as we made our way down to the Keys. It was a sunny day and the sea was fairly calm. As we were passing Miami, we were suddenly joined [...]

We're back!

It has been so long since we last blogged, I'm sure many of you thought we must have fallen off the face of the earth! Not so! We took a couple of weeks off to return to Maine to take care of mundane but necessary things like doctors appointments, taxes, car registration etc. And although Maine is experiencing a fairly mild winter by usual standards, it was too cold for us! But we got a lot accomplished and got to visit with family and some friends (although there is never enough time to see everyone we would have liked to). We arrived back in Ft Lauderdale last Saturday, glad to be back in a warmer climate. Florida, like Maine, is experiencing a warmer winter than usual and we have been blessed with days in the mid to upper 70s and nights only going down into the mid 60s. This allows us to sleep with the hatch open in the stateroom where we can look at the stars which is very nice. The pictuire featured is of the morning sky for out of the hatch while the sun was rising this morning.

Marc's sister, Cielette, visited us earlier this week for about 24 hours and we had a great time going out for dinner and the next day exploring Ft Lauderdale on the water taxi and getting in a nice walk on the beach. It was so great of her to make the more than 4 hour drive to see us while she visited Orlando!

We are now preparing for the next leg of our adventure which is to explore the Florida Keys. We have stocked up on charts and books about the Keys as well as reading material for entertainment while we relax in the Keys. We are studying the charts, making plans and hopefully sometime next weeks, the winds will be favorable for us to take off. Thanks for not giving up on us and we will keep you posted as our journey continues!
