Still Playing in the Keys

Since leaving Key West, we have been having a lovely time just wandering around the Keys. The weather in the Keys is, in my opinion, nearly perfect with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s always with a breeze that keeps it comfortable. Depending on what the winds are doing, we seek out a spot [...]

Living Your Dreams

Greetings Everyone,

This Key Fits

Greeting everyone! We escaped from Key West three days ago after a stay of almost two weeks. I say escaped as we were held captive by howling east winds which turned an intended two day stay into almost two weeks. However, Key West was great and we explored.

It's blowin' in Key West!

After spending Friday at a lovely anchorage in Newfound Harbor off Big Pine Key, we headed out on Saturday morning for Key West. It was a beautiful day and after only about three hours, we arrived at the harbor entrance and tied up to a dock at a marina in Key West. What a busy place! It is easy to see [...]

The middle Keys

Well ! Our goal has been to slow it all down and hang out here and there and not freeze. Happening! A few days ago we anchored at Shell Key early in the afternoon and again set about the arduous tasks of napping then fishing. Julie reeled in a delightful small fish and when she raised it out of the water [...]

Cruising in the Keys

We left Ft Lauderdale on Monday morning early so we could make the 7am opening of the bridge next to the marina and headed out the Port Everglades inlet to the outside as we made our way down to the Keys. It was a sunny day and the sea was fairly calm. As we were passing Miami, we were suddenly joined [...]

Red Sky at Night

Mr. K
Well my vision WAS to be sprawled out in the cockpit wearing a scant piece of “homespun” with book having fallen on my face and asleep in the sun. Well that's not happenin' let me tell you! It is freezing in Florida and all the full winter gear is represented at the helm for today. We left St Augustine this morning and headed south knowing that the further south we get the warmer it is supposed to get. You have to visit St Augustine (if you have not). Plenty to do for the young and old. History and Fun.

As I torturously type this entry we are tied to the dock in Daytona Beach (of stock car fame) and the sun is beginning to set. This marina knows the power of yes and they allow you to barbeque on your boat. The chicken breasts are marinating and the white asparagus is brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with garlic powder. Let us not forget the angle hair Alfredo and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc on the side.

We spent the late afternoon getting our BIG fishing gear in order as we will soon “pop out on the outside” and skirt the gulf stream and try for some Mahi Mahi or whatever. Ball bearing swivels, 400 pound test, whole Ballyhoo as bait with the pole tied to the boat. YEAH!

Tomorrow it is off to somewhere around Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral at our breakneck speed of 10 miles an hour. Hope this finds everyone happy and well, Mr.K
