It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

28 November 2010 | Sydney Harbour, Australia

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Final stop with Robbie & Jess

Robbie & Jess
Wow, when two weary travellers came to join this 'ghost' of a crew in Palma, we really didn't know what we were in for. But the last three weeks have seen these two aussies, fed, spoiled, entertained, chaperoned and pampered...... and really we have also Londoners Lee & Sal, as well as Ray & Julie & Sam on Meander to thank for every bit if it.

But on a serious note, we really must thank Brad and Kat for showing and reminding us what great friends they truly are; sharing with us their home, personal space belongings and own holiday time. The last three weeks of travelling with them through the Spanish Islands and then down the Spanish Coast (see previous blogs) has been a glorious. An experience we will always remember. Having the pleasure to travel with them from Mallorca all the way down to our final destination of Gibraltar where we are sad to have to call it a day.

While here in Gibraltar these last few days there has included some days of extreme wind weather, where the two key crew have also been a whirlwind on board to get Ghost ready for their big Atlantic crossing. Busily making minor improvements, stoking provisions and testing all the local bars and restaurants.

As well as this we also had the luck of a glorious (but maybe final for the med) sunny summer days that have allowed a visit to the infamous 'Rock of Gibraltar'. This incorporated seeing dozens of wild monkeys (banana snatchers) probably historically brought in from Africa (only 14km away). Walking amazing natural tunnels large enough to have been concerted into a concert hall (literally) as well as the man made tunnels used as cannon batteries during the rocks long military history.

Until we see you again down under, hopefully at our place next time... go for a ride and a surf! Thanks for showing us the life of sailing...spear fishing, night sails and a bit of well needed peaceful relaxation for us really was a blast and really appreciated every minute!!

Take Care guys and see you again soon
