It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Packing up GHOST

12 September 2008 | Yat Marine, Marmaris
Kat
Well it's been a hectic couple of days preparing GHOST to be lifted out of the water for the winter.

We were very lucky to have a couple of helpers (Dave & Kneisa) - it's definitely a bonus to have 4 people at work when it comes to taking down and folding the sails! Big, big thank you guys.

Brad "moused" all of the lines using thin wire so we can rethread them next year. We estimate that we have around 2,000m of lines on the boat - unbelievable! We then washed (all 2km of) the lines in the dingy to get out the salty nastiness and also washed everything from the lazarette, the anchor locker and all of the canvas - sprayhood, rope bags & bimini - dried it all and packed it away. Dave and I then spent hours polishing all of the blocks and shackles and packing them away too.

At least the marina has a pool so we can have a swim and relax at the end of the day! It's hot work but at least that means everything dries quickly.

Boat is due to be lifted out any time today (scary) and then we set about cleaning the inside, polishing all the metal work outside and packing up our stuff... will be another busy few days until we fly on Sunday....
