It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

28 November 2010 | Sydney Harbour, Australia

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

How not to tie on to a mooring buoy!

04 June 2009 | Vourkari, Kea, Greece
Brad
Quick trip this AM from Loutra and even quicker departure. A little disappointed this morning to find out that some enterprising prick (damn Greeks!) decided to turn up this morning and charge everyone in the marina for berthing. It was clearly not correct and of course there was a cash price with no receipt. We had heard that this place was free and that was everyone's expectation but you can't argue with these guys. In the end we only paid '10 for two nights after lying and saying we were there for only one and never used electricity or water. After all the work we had done the previous day, it was us that should have been paid!

As I said a quick departure. The wind veered a little and was blowing us on to other boats now, and there was a line of other boats that had either been at anchor of on the outside that were keen to get into the quay. We saw our gap and took it. Our anchor retrieval was hasty and aggressive to say the least, but completed without incident.

Now in Kea, the next island to the north west and yet a little closer to Athens. Being only a day out of Athens we are contemplating heading there tomorrow.

Bless the charter folk. They never cease to provide us with entertainment, yesterday it was non stop t-boning action, today it is how not to tie onto a mooring buoy, enjoy!
