It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Nice sail to Poros

We are waiting to pick up a new sailbag from Athens as the one that was made for us never fitted properly (in fact we refer to it as the elephant bag and can fit ALL of our fenders in it as well as the sail), but it is delayed and we have heard that the marinas in Athens are dirty and noisy so don't want to stay there longer than it takes to fit the bag and see the Acropolis and national museum.

So as it's a long weekend here we decided to head around the Saronic islands of Poros and Aigina for the weekend and then head into Athens on Monday night or Tuesday to get the bag fitted and see the sights. We had a lovely sail on the way over, once the winds picked up it was 13-15 knots around 45 degrees off the nose and we were making around 8 knots and having a lovely sail. Free transport, bring it on.

We headed through the narrow channel that separates Poros from the mainland Peloponnese and it was very pretty with pastel buildings clustered right down to the waterfront on both sides. However as the bars and tables reached right down to the waterfront we decided mooring to the town quay would be noisy so headed for a bay around the corner and anchored up. In the bay there is a watersports centre with a bar, and internet (of course!). We were planning to head back to a Barbie on the boat but Brad has started chatting to the Aussie barman and the beer is flowing....
