It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Calamari in Aigina

10 June 2009 | Aigina, Greece
Kat
So we enjoyed our overnight stay anchored off the main port of Aigina. Again as part of the bank holiday weekend here and being only a 20 minute high speed ferry ride from Athens it was completely packed with Athenian tourists. Ferries were arriving at least every 15 mins with their arrival and departure accompanied by lots of wake!

The town itself though was quite charming and we enjoyed buying fruit and veg from the floating vendors in the harbour and bought some fresh squid from the fish market, though luckily the seller took pity on us and cut it up as we were definitely squeamish! I quickly cooked it up in the afternoon tossed in fresh chilli, salt and flour - I think it might have been the best calamari ever!

We also had some lovely Turkish style kebabs but I have to admit I find it hard to buy from the butchers in Greece with the skinned sheep heads looking at me!
