It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

28 November 2010 | Sydney Harbour, Australia

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Gadding about Galaxidi

Kat
After a relaxing afternoon yesterday we had dinner and then when it was dark we took our collapsible chairs and a couple of glasses of wine and settled down to watch the free show put on by the Tall Ship Theatre Company. Basically they are paid by the town to come and perform from their boat and this year they are touring the Ionian and the Balkans.

The show was called Utopian Floes and was well staged with good lighting and fantastic acrobatics around the masts of the boat, it was however slightly difficult to follow being in a mixture of English and Greek and with ambitious subject matter "set in a future time-space zone in a time of planetary desecration where only a few Earthlings survive, how will they create a new Utopian society from the wreckage of the past".... it was certainly different!

After a good night's sleep we headed off on the bus to Delphi which is one of the more spectacular ancient sites in Greece and which used to be regarded by the Greeks as the centre of the world after Zeus released two eagles at the ends of the earth and they met there. It features a temple dedicated to Apollo where the Delphi Oracle would interpret the future, a theatre, and the best preserved stadium in Greece. It is set on the side of a ravine overlooking olive groves and is a very beautiful place. After a couple of hours delay (spent in a bar) we finally managed to get a couple of buses back to the boat!

It's pretty hot here still so we've just had a quick swim and Brad is making the most of the water on the quay by hosing down the boat and filling the tanks. We're going to chill out for another night here and then hope to head out the Gulf of Patras towards Cephalonia with a few anchorages on the way.
