It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

28 November 2010 | Sydney Harbour, Australia

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Less than one day from Australia!

12 November 2010 | 100nm NE of Coffs Harbour
Kat
Although the wind hasn't picked up again, the sea state unfortunately has and it was a very rolly night as we bobbed along at about 6knots in 15knots of true wind. This meant sleep was unfortunately a bit limited, however not much could dampen the spirits today as we should arrive into Coffs Harbour at around 9am tomorrow morning - which is good as that is when the marina opens. Plan is to do the formalities there, catch up with our mates on Sunboy (who live there) and then wait for the right weather for the final 200nm hop down the coast to Pittwater & then Sydney. Brad is hoisting the Australian courtesy flag and Q (mandatory quarantine) flag as I type!

Life on board is pretty usual for an ocean passage with shifts of between 3-4 hours, plenty of watching shows on ipods, reading books and for me, spending lots of time cooking. Australian quarantine will take away all fresh food, meat & milk products, honey, seeds and nuts so I am using up the last of our supplies.

So this could be our last ocean passage on GHOST which is somehow hard to comprehend, although I am getting excited about life on land again and am particularly looking forward to having a BATH!!!
