The New S&S 30 has been launched and she is an incredible performer.
In wind up to 15 kts she will exceed 6.5 kts to weather and over 8 kts on a broad reach.
With beautiful classic lines from Olin Stephens and the Sparkman and Stephens design team, S&S has done an incredible job.
Easy to single hand, four berths for weekending cruising.
We could not ask for more.

MAINE SUMMER TRIP
23 November 2009 | NEWPORT TO NORTH HAVEN
GLENN
What a great vacation. Great weather in August 2009, departed Newport to Elizabethan Islands to my favorite local anchorage; Tarpaulin Cove. Next day thru Woods Hole, thru the Canal, spinnaker ride past P-town, overnight sail to Tennants Harbor, Maine. Bopped around North Haven and especially the gorgeous Seal Harbor. After about five days sailed thru the fog to Monhegan Island. Hurricane coming up coast, so ran to Boothbay for the night. Then to Portland to two days, waited for the seas to lie down and then overnight to the canal, exhausted thru Buzzards Bay and at the fuel dock in Newport by 11am. Ani was the radar queen in the fog and did a great job relieving me at the helm on our overnights.
Champagne, gormet lunch, took a nap, before leaving POIA.

A MINI EPIC
A double handed race from Bermuda to Newport on a J120.
Left in a small storm, lost autopilot in the first 40 miles.
First night out, while at the helm, a squall came thru at 45kts, blowing out the mainsail and headsail.
Following day, owner of boat went forward to change out the headsail, blew out his knee and opened up an abrasion. 20 hours later after he passed out, he awoke with an infection spreading down his leg.
We sailed on; that is I sailed on with some help when he could get to the helm.
Five days later with his leg looking redder than a tomato, swollen, and barely able to walk, he sat-phoned a doctor who told him to get to the hospital or lose his leg or life.
So, with 30 miles left to the finish line, I motored up, and got him home. Took four men to get him off the boat and he stayed in the hospital for six days with a serious STAPH infection.
Well, all is well that ends well. There were some spectacularly beautiful moments and others that were also dicey.
ROLEX RACE

We entered a Jeanneau 3200 in the 155th Annual Rolex NYYC race weekend.
With little knowledge of the boat we managed to take a first place in the first day of the Round the Island Race. Shown below are Darren, my son at far right, Me, Catherine Guiadar, bowman, best friend Jeff, and far left is Darren's friend Logan.
The following two days, we buoy raced and avoiding coming in deal last, and had fun and learned alot.
DARE-DARE is off to the Mackinac race now.
Working Vacation in Carib
07 April 2009 | Virgin Islands
Well, a key friend and client had some warranty work to be done and I was volunteered to fly down with my lovely assistant Ani.
We tuned the rig, made her sailing faster and pointing higher, worked on some electrical issues, and then went racing to TEST my efforts.
Final conclusion: We did not win, but the owner was very satisfied we got the Jeanneau 54DS into the hunt and often outpointing and outsailing his competitors.
So, after our test sails we went on to a few islands for additional sampling of the local culture and rum libations. All of them were excellent.
