We woke up to a gorgeous morning. We had jumped into the clear, blue water for an early snorkel, and truly enjoying our anchorage. We had cooked one of our favorite breakfast of bacon, pancakes, and fresh fruit. Anyone who knows me would be shocked that I make pancakes from scratch on a regular basis on the Gone Native. There is simply no Aunt Jemima instant pancake mix around here. Now for even more of a shocker, I have learned to make bread from scratch., kneading flour, letting it rise--the whole enchilada... read on for a blog story about that.
As we were finishing our last sips of coffee, a Turkish kayak came along side of us. They were selling their homemade parios and jewelry. The couple and their son proudly displayed their items, and we did not sense any pressure to buy, rather it was there to purchase if we so chose
The parios were pretty, but I had acquired quite a collection after being in the Caribbean. The jewelry, however, definitely caught our eye. Dianne and I looked at each piece, admiring the uniqueness and intricacy of every bracelet and necklace. The women lifted one bracelet and suddenly it slipped out of her hand and it fell to the bottom! Wesley put on his goggles and dove after it. The woman was impressed with his diving skills and she handed it to him as a gift. She suggested to Wesley he could give it to his girlfriend. Wesley smiled shyly, with just a bit of an embarrassing glow.
.
After carefully examining them all, Dianne and I selected several for ourselves and for some gifts. Shopping at the Mall is not quite the same!
