A Double Wahoo Catch
18 January 2009 | Mid Atlantic, North of Columbia
by Capts. Dave and Desiree
We left the evening of Jan. 16th for the San Blas Islands. The Gone Native crew had become skilled after so many miles on the Atlantic at catching fish. Ryan and Wesley especially wanted to show Bill how it is done.
We had set out four fishing lines, and did what most fishermen do, patiently wait. We were busy with keeping the boat on track, schoolwork, and the norm of passages. Ryan thought there was a nibble on one of the lines, and he was absolutely right! We all went into "bring up the fish mode." As Dave was reeling the fish, Wesley and Ryan grabbed knives, the gin to speed up the "relaxation" of the fish, myself grabbing the fish hook, and Bill ready to help however he could. Suddenly, I heard the "ZZZZZ" of another line calling. Fish!!!! Bill scrambled to the other side and hauled in the second wahoo. It was an exciting afternoon, and a spectacular fish cook off on the BBQ that evening.
Yes, Bill has certainly become a full fledge member of the Gone Native, experiencing not just boat projects, but the fun and challenges of daily life on the boat.
