Today I stood up for the notion of not wrapping kids up in cotton wool.
A 9 year old boy was watching over a middle aged foilboarder, as the boarders kite dropped out of the sky in light winds, and he got stuck in the entrance of the busy shipping channel.
The kiter valiantly tried to relaunch the kite, as a large incat style vessel approached rapidly.
The 9 year old boy jumped in the dinghy, safely approached the kiter, and reversed the kiter out of peril - with 30 seconds to spare.
The 9 year old boy, now has the official title of RBD -rescue boat driver, and charges $1 per rescue.
The foilboarder, apparently still thinks he is an indestructable 18 year old.
