June 9th cont....

09 June 2013
Wasn't able to add/finish this day's "blog" so had to enter a "new one"... Sorry abt. that.. Will have to start to cut n' paste so a full blog gets entered.

We continued this 1 hr on until about 6 AM when we both decided enough was enough and looked at marinas coming up... We were approx. 3 hrs away from Marco island and had heard Boat US (Marco Island) on the VHF... (We belong to it...) After talking with them to be sure that the channel was deep enough for us (Carson G II has a 5 1/2 ft. draft), we decided we'd hail a marina when we were an hour out to be sure they could accomodate us (49 ft length, 15 ft beam). The first try was a good one... I didn't even ask abt. price. We both decided we needed sleep. Finally docked at 10AM. We'd be up since 7AM the day before (27hrs) with each of us, at the wheel, for 8hrs each. First thing done after securing the electrical was putting on the AC....

We'll be here a few days trying to find someone to get "Burton" to do his job and reconsidering our sailing plans....

P.S. While pounding along one of the dinghy's shackles broke & we almost lost him (Munchkin...the dinghy). Carson had to "hook-up" and go aft to secure the dinghy by using the block n' tackle on missen boom...
