Not my favorite activity!
27 December 2011 | Hopetown on Elbow Cay, Bahamas
Still beautiful...30C with sunshine!
After a lovely breakfast, it was determined that today's the day to climb the mast and replace the VHF radio antennae and replace the anchor light on the top of the mast.
This involves gathering all required tools, climbing into a bosun's chair and being hoisted to the top of the mast via a 1/2" rope.
The challenge is clearing the two sets of spreaders, the shrouds, forestay, and radar dome without dropping anything (particularly the replacement antennae).
All went well, and I am safely back on deck.
It's not my favorite thing to do, hanging/swinging 65' above the deck fighting with corroded nuts and bolts....
If it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger!
