Lovely Days
08 March 2012 | Hopetown Harbour
very windy (30knots) from the NE
Sitting on our mooring ball in the harbour while the wind blows hard outside, we're slowly getting organized to return north in 4 weeks. Two of the main water tanks have been pumped dry and vacuumed dry, the stainless steel has been repolished, the bilges cleaned and vacuumed, etc. etc. etc.
We've had a busy winter with purchasing land, joining the Hopetown Sailing Club, the SOTS club, purchasing a golf cart on steroids ( The Gator), meeting loads of wonderful new friends, designing our new tropical home, meeting architects, builders, neighbours, etc.
We have our last guest (Francine) arriving from Calgary in Mid-March for 10 days of sailing, then it's time to head north to Green Turtle Cay to haul the boat out of the water, prepare it for hurricane season, then a $100 taxi ride to Marsh Harbour, a late flight to Nassau (we found a great new place to stay), then a mid-day flight to Ottawa arriving home at 6:30pm.
We're hoping the snow is gone and that the flowers are starting to peek out at us...
Overall, a really great winter in the Bahamas!
See you all soon (we hope).
