Freezing Spray
15 December 2010 | Oriental, NC (Whittaker Pointe Marina
The temperature outside was 18 degrees F when we left the dock and the wind was blowing in our face half the time. We each did half hour shifts at the helm so we could go down below and try to warm up in 38 degree temperature in the main cabin. We left a little after 7 in the morning and traveled on the Pungo R, Pamlico R, Goose Creek, a short canal, BayR, and the Neuse R to arrive before 3 in Oriental, NC. Bundled up in many layers, we covered over 50 miles today, with cold temps, the wind, and the spray freezing wherever it landed. We are still trying to get warm with the heater running!
