In a little over 4 hours we made 25.4 miles and are at Casper's Marina. We went through Bogue Sound, very pretty area and lots of barrier islands. It was 32 when we left and 44 when we arrived. It is supposed to get warmer this week, we sure hope so.

Left Oriental about 8:15 AM and had the wind and current against us for the first half of this leg. We were doing only 3-4 kts at times. Traveled on the Neuse R, Adams Creek and the Adams Creek Canal. When we neared the Newport R the current and tide was with us and we saw 7.8 kt at times. Followed the course on the GPS and had no problems with the channel. Turned before the bridge into Morehead City Yacht Basin and docked by 11:45 AM, a nice protected marina. 25 miles in about 3.5 hrs, not bad at all. When we left the temperature was 28 degrees and it warmed up to about 35 degrees while traveling, not as many layers needed today. Marge and Matt graciously welcomed us to NC with a goody bag and the use of a vehicle to sight see and shop! We also recieved "mail call" from Shawn and several packages we ordered. An important package was the moisture barrier for the mattress. I can't wait to get everything dried out and put the barrier down and see how it works.

Hugs and kisses
The temperature outside was 18 degrees F when we left the dock and the wind was blowing in our face half the time. We each did half hour shifts at the helm so we could go down below and try to warm up in 38 degree temperature in the main cabin. We left a little after 7 in the morning and traveled on the Pungo R, Pamlico R, Goose Creek, a short canal, BayR, and the Neuse R to arrive before 3 in Oriental, NC. Bundled up in many layers, we covered over 50 miles today, with cold temps, the wind, and the spray freezing wherever it landed. We are still trying to get warm with the heater running!

Departed at 7:10 AM, we had 47 miles to cover, and it was cold (28), so we were bundled up. Had the Alligator Bridge open for us and we were on our way to almost the source of the Alligator R. Didn't see any alligators. Traveled through the Alligator R and Pungo R Canal, it was very pretty. Followed the markers to the Pungo R and made our way to Dowry Creek Marina. This leg of our journey took seven hours. We are waiting the weather out here. Rain and wind, so the boat will get a much needed washing. Used the courtesy car to get Greg some boots and warm socks. Newton had a great romp! The cell phone reception is non-existant here and the internet is finicky.
