Stilts to Start a 45 NM Stint

The enigmatic structures of "Stiltsville" were our sentinals as we made our way to the Hawk Channel for a 45 mile stint to Rodriguez Key neighboring Key Largo. This was the first "true test" of our new engine, and it must be said she stood up to the task. A steady SOG of 6.4kts kept us going south. A mostly sunny and breezy day was puncuated by some rain and even a bolt of lightning and a clap of thunder. What can one do, except keep on keeping on. (Sounds like our whole adventure) Nevertheless, we've found ourselvs in a somewhat "open" anchorage, with a steady 12kt breeze. 100ft+ of chain rode is keeping us in place, and for the most part, we think we'll be able to sleep through the night. Too tired to cook prime rib, it looks like oreos are on the menu for dinner........
