Broken record
25 February 2013 | Levington
I don't want to sound like a broken record, but once again we've logged less miles sailing than I would have liked. Though the sailing we did manage was very enjoyable, if maybe a tad too cold. Quality over quantity I guess.
We've had some glorious sails in the winter sun and some rather more wintry brisk sails - the kind of sailing you would expect to do off Murmansk. Currently looking for some decent gloves which will keep my fingers from freezing but still allow me to handle halyards and sheets. Suggestions?
Otherwise, nothing much to report.
Last week, spent a quiet 'maintenance day' on the boat with youngest offspring. Very productive - not so much by what was achieved, but more by what was learned. The deck-refit was finally completed (4 years after it started) when we fitted a latch to the aft lazarette. [Borat]High five - great success [/Borat].
I think we will leave fitting the bilge pump monitor to a professional - our electrics wiring is too 'interesting'. Yanni can talk circuits, grounding and whatnot, but I'm not going to bore you with all of this here. To me, it's all magic, and as long as everything works (and it does) I'm more than happy to leave it at that.
For a long time, I've been looking to install some speakers in the cockpit. Music whilst sailing or whilst having a sundowner in the cockpit would be kind of cool. We've now identified what we need, where we are going to put them and how we are going to wire the whole thing up. Hopefully all done by Easter. Just in time for the sailing season proper.
That's all for now. In the mean time, we live in anticipation of Spring/Summer and all the good things to come. Hang in there.
