Travel to Tashmoo Lake

We departed Marblehead and motor sailed to Plymouth, MA. As we were sailing past Boston and down the coast, we couldn't help but notice the haze. Then, when we were anchoring, we saw this incredible SUN. This is not your typical "red sky at night, as sailor's delight". It looked more like a rising full [...]

Marblehead

As I mentioned, Marblehead has become one of our favorite cruising destinations this year. We arrived Saturday) of their big "Race Week". We knew it was going to be crowded and we also new that it was going to be rainy on Sunday. So, we dropped the DINGHY in the water, mounted the engine, changed our [...]

Isle of Shoals

So, we left Maine today (sniff). We spent our last night in Isle of Shoals. It's a wonderful little atoll about 10 miles off the coast. A couple of the islands are in Maine and a couple of the islands are in NEW HAMPSHIRE!

This Ole Boat

Old is a relative term. Twenty eight years old doesn't sound too bad by my standards, but for a sailboat that has spent its 28 years in the corrosive environment of salt water, 28 years is older than dirt! Everything metallic (think engine, transmission, mast, cooktop, oven etc, etc) is subject to corrosion [...]

Lunch at Sip Sip

10 April 2016
Let me preface this with saying that there was another reason we were so excited about seeing DT. In less than 48 hours we had heard the same story regarding Bill Gates TWICE (and we would hear it for a third time this day!). The story goes that Mr. Gates was visiting DT rather incognito and chatting casually with a local real estate agent. Mr. Gates: "So, what does something on this end of the island run?". Local Realtor (now unemployed): "Sir, I don't think you could afford anything on this island."!!! Thus, you can imagine, our expectations were high! We drove around in our little golf cart and saw some beautiful (pink-ish) beaches, great marinas etc. but NOTHING over the top gorgeous...give me Navarre Beach any day! We start looking for a lunch place and really can't find anything wonderful, when we stumble upon a really wonderful hotel. "Rock Hall" is a very old, 11 bedroom hotel situated on top of a hill, with a fabulous view of the harbor. It was COMPLETELY empty. We chat with the maƮtre de and she tells us to go to "Sip Sip" on the OTHER end of the island. Evidently, we should have turned left and had been slumming it all morning! Long story, (rather)short...the north end of Dunmoor Town is absolutely fabulous. I could eat at "Sip Sip" every day for the rest of my life!
