Rudder in place

27 March 2010 | Hook and Bull Boat Yard
BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY HIGH 70s
Well good news here. The rudder has been re-installed and the new rudder stuffing box is fiberglassed in. Got it all re-painted today and will install the new hatch tomorrow to cover the hole that we had to cut to get access to the rudder stuffing box. This was really a blessing as it happened here instead at sea. One thing for sure it is a a lot more secure now than it was before.
How the next thing to tackle is the water line. When we launched for that short time we found the waterline/boot strip was well below the water. So now I have to determine if the old water line was incorrect or if it was the 250 ft of chain in the forward anchor locker that was causing the higher water line.
I may just go ahead and launch and when I get to Jacksonville/St. Augustine, Fl. I should have a good idea of what the water line should be.

I have bloged the seafarer group for some input on the major/minor problem. Well this it for now will update more as I know more

'Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.' - "Mark Twain" -
