Well poor Gypsy has been hanging out in the yard for the last several weeks having some blister repair work done. Once the bottom was blasted it revealed many small blisters that we had repaired. This process can take a good amount of time when you are dodging rain storms. The bottom had to then be coated with an epoxy barrier coat to seal the moisture out. Hopefully this will keep some of those blisters from coming back. Time will tell.

We decided to have the bottom blasted to get past the MANY layers of bottom paint that have been accumulating on this old girl over the years. She was starting to suffer from "flaking", where the paint comes off in large flakes due to the original primer and bottom paint parting company. If we had painted over this situation, we would have only been buying a small amount of time. The new paint would eventually start flaking off down to the primer too. So let the "blasting" begin.

Today was haul day. As you can see, the Krogan 38 has an extremely shallow draft with the boards up. 3'2" boards up. 6'8" boards down. Yes I said boards, with an "S". In addition to the main centerboard, she also has a smaller board in the stern area to assist with trimming some of the weather helm that you may encounter.

Just a quick hello to everyone. We recently purchased "Gypsy" and moved her up to St Pete FL from Charlotte Harbor FL. She is a 1982 38' Kadey-Krogen Cutter. She was in need of a lot of scrubbing and some TLC and will be a work in progress for some time to come. We are looking forward to the "therapy".
