The end of the line

This really is the end of the line. I signed the Bill of Sale for Haggis Hunter yesterday and she is now of to her new home in Gibraltar. Later her new owners intend setting of into the Mediterranean for a few years so she will of on her travels again soon and perhaps a new blog too.

Time for an update

Since the last post the weather has been goo except for last week when Alison and Chris came out to visit. Almost as soon as their plane touched down the rain started and it was on and of till they left. They are not great sun worshippers so it didn't really make that much difference for them. We had [...]

Getting Settled in

We are now getting properly settled in, finding the best places to shop, pay the bills etc.

Back again

I suspect everyone is wondering where we have been. Shortly after our last post we decided that living on board was not the best option and that it was time to put Haggis Hunter on the market. We then started looking at rented accommodation and found the place we are now in. It is a very nice quite new [...]

Woops it's 2 weeks since my last post

Didn't realise it had been so long since I posted something. We are settling in to having a car and now trying not to use it too much, but the freedom is great. We went to a Country and Western lunch and afternoon at Silves a small town a bit west of here that has a dramatic castle in the middle of the [...]

Almost as soon as their plane touched down the rain started and it was on and of till they left. They are not great sun worshippers so it didn't really make that much difference for them. We had another night out at Johnny Hooper's which was great and went out to Cape St Vincent on Saturday. It was very windy which enhanced the sea hitting those big high cliffs.

Maggie is getting ready for a day in front of the telly tomorrow for The wedding, so hope we don't have another thunder storm like Sunday night as the power went of about 10 times, which was rather a bother as we kept having to reset Sky and the Internet connection.

As it warms up Millies coat is getting shorter and thinner and she was mistaken for a small dalmation last week as her skin blotches really show through now

Peter and it is very sunny and hot

When we go out for our walks Millie is getting used to the many dogs in gardens, that all bark as you pass, one has about 6 dogs and there is always one on look out. She manages to ignore most of them but some of the bigger ones are a bit much for her and she is happier when we get past the house.

Tuesday was market day and we went as usual to get some fruit and veg and look at some things for the house. We now have barbecued chicken for lunch at Georges, it is one of the best chicken piri-piri's in the area. Their stall is always busy what ever the weather.

It is really getting hot now in the mid 20s every day though there has been a nice breeze most days keeping it comfortable.

The photo this time is the chickens barbecuing.

I suspect everyone is wondering where we have been. Shortly after our last post we decided that living on board was not the best option and that it was time to put Haggis Hunter on the market. We then started looking at rented accommodation and found the place we are now in. It is a very nice quite new terraced house in a small condominium in Ferreiras which is just outside Albufeira. We are very close to the railway station which has trains both along the Algarve and to Lisbon and all points North. Also at the station is the stop for the local bus that will take us into Albufeira.

We are now settled in and Millie is enjoying our little back yard where she can bask in the sun. It is getting a lot warmer and it tends to be getting close to or over twenty most days.

The picture is our new front door.

ps Not only have we now got a washing machine but a dishwasher too.

Peter and it's cold and wet
Didn't realise it had been so long since I posted something. We are settling in to having a car and now trying not to use it too much, but the freedom is great. We went to a Country and Western lunch and afternoon at Silves a small town a bit west of here that has a dramatic castle in the middle of the town. The food was good, and there were 3 performers so there was plenty of variety. Last weekend Tom who did the sailing course with Maggie before we left came out to look at a boat that was for sale in Faro. As he pointed out it was cheaper to come here than the south coast of the UK. We went over to see him and then took him for a little tour before having a barbecue for tea.
We have done a few jobs on the Bongo and the speedo is now back to reading in kilometres, much easier out here. We have some plans for the awning but one supplier sent the wrong part so that has been delayed.
The weather has been bad for the last few days and the storm that passed through this morning has moved the dish so no telly till we can get the man back. Hopefully by the weekend we will be back to the sun again and it is forecast to go over 20 next week, so I may be able to get the shorts out again.

The picture is the Bongo with the awning out.
