Time for an update

Since the last post the weather has been goo except for last week when Alison and Chris came out to visit. Almost as soon as their plane touched down the rain started and it was on and of till they left. They are not great sun worshippers so it didn't really make that much difference for them. We had [...]

Back again

I suspect everyone is wondering where we have been. Shortly after our last post we decided that living on board was not the best option and that it was time to put Haggis Hunter on the market. We then started looking at rented accommodation and found the place we are now in. It is a very nice quite new [...]

Woops it's 2 weeks since my last post

Didn't realise it had been so long since I posted something. We are settling in to having a car and now trying not to use it too much, but the freedom is great. We went to a Country and Western lunch and afternoon at Silves a small town a bit west of here that has a dramatic castle in the middle of the [...]

Peter and it's cold and wet
Well we are both just about over our colds, so should be fit byu the time Dot and Jack get out here next week.

I now have a local bank account so should shortly get my Portuguese cash and credit card which will make some things easier and hopefully allow us to get a contract for the internet which will be cheaper, and avoid us running out of credit in the middle of something important.

We spent some time looking at cars, campervans and the like and have decided that local cars are overpriced and if the Bongo we have seen is properly registered here we will go for that and if that falls through we will bring our present one out here. Our search took us to Olhao which is just the other side of Faro and it looks very nice there. It is inside the big lagoon that Faro is in, and there is a large area of sand dunes and salt marshes. The down side is we were both bitten several times by mosquitoes.

We are having a few people on board for drinks tonight so I had better get of and get my chores done.

Just to cheer all of those in the UK up, we are having a cold spell with lots of wind and rain, and Maggie and I have been forced into long trousers for the first time for months. It is expected to warm up by Monday and by the middle of the week we will be back into the cloudless sky and low twenties temperatures again, mind you we still seem to be nearly 10 degrees warmer than Edinburgh.
