Solomons Island to Deltaville

Deb and Ron
After leaving St. Michaels we went to Solomons Island. We anchored up Mill Creek on the west side. It was a beautiful anchorage. We took the dinghy into shore and walked around a little, but we both believe St. Michaels was more charming. We were going to stay longer and explore Solomons Island further, but when we got up in the morning we decided to take advantage of the weather and keep pushing South. We ended up pulling into the Wicomico River and went back 3 miles and were the only boat in this beautiful secluded anchorage. The sunset and sunrise were spectacular. The following morning we awoke to brisk north winds. We threw in a single reef and sailed with the main and the staysail. This was actually the first time we were able to sail for the entire day without using the engine. It was a fun run down the bay to Deltaville, Virginia. We anchored in Fishing Bay. As we were riding around looking for the dinghy dock to go ashore, we noticed two couples talking and then saw one of them motioning for us to join them. As we got closer one of the gentleman called out "You must be Ron". That took us by surprise. After speaking with him we were told that he was on a mission to find us. It ends up we both have mutual friends (Mike and Liz) from our sailing days on Oneida Lake. Liz was following our blog and could see that it was very possible our paths would cross. Well, she was right and we had a great time making new friends. We called Liz and thanked her for alerting her friends to look for us. We went into shore this morning and did a 4 mile run to Stoves point which overlooks the Chesapeake Bay and Piankatank River.
We are currently doing our laundry at the Fishing Bay Marina and looking forward to a steak dinner on our boat which is anchored in another beautiful anchorage.
