Alligator River to Broad Creek, NC
04 November 2015 | Broad Creek, NC
65/70 F, Cloudy, 5-10 E
We pulled anchor at 6:30 this morning and entered the Alligator River -Pungo River Canal. The canal was very narrow in a very remote area. There have been sightings of deer, alligators and even bears. However, I did not see any. Oh well.....At the end of the canal we entered the Pungo River. We put out the head sail and motor sailed across the Pamlico River. Then we went into the Goose Creek and through another canal like area into the Bay River and then into the Neuse River. It was a cloudy day. The sun peeked out for about for about 1/2 hour. It sprinkled and then fog rolled in making visibility about 1/8 of a mile forcing us to use the radar. That lasted for about an hour and then cleared. We dropped anchor at 4:00 PM in Broad Creek after traveling 60 NM in 10 hours. The scenery offers a few houses on the shore line, lots of trees and creeks branching off off in different directions. Tomorrow we will move on towards Beaufort, NC.
