Departing Mougins
09 June 2017
Ted, still enjoying the high pressure weather system
Leaving any place that you enjoy is always tough. Mougins is one of our favourite places, but tomorrow we move on. So, today we visited the old village of Mougins (picture) and had lunch at L'Annexe, where we lunch at least once each visit. The first time we had a full lunch with entré, plat and dessert. We thought we'd be smart and order espresso to top it off. We ordered Café Gourmand, which we thought was just a special coffee. Little did we know that the coffee came with six little tiny desserts with both our coffees. We both waddled out of the restaurant that day. Too much? Nah, absolutely delicious!!
Shan had suggested I read one of her novels, The Little Paris Bookshop. She does this when her intention is that we visit some of the settings described in the novels. We did this in St. Malo, Guernsey and probably a few other places. I am never sure if she is checking on the accuracy of the author's research or just re-living the story. The process does make the fiction more realistic. So, tomorrow en route to our B&B in Lagnes near Avignon, we will stop for lunch in Cassis. Cassis is on the coast near Marseille, noted for its rock formations and beaches. I haven't reached the point in the novel when Cassis is mentioned and am avoiding asking Shan -- so I promise I won't be a story spoiler!
We have only been in France for about 10 days and we are accumulating stuff at an astronomical rate. I have given up expecting that we will be able to fit everything into our two suitcases for our trip back to Spain in a couple of weeks. I figure that Shan earns her right to accumulate stuff by putting up with my sailing passion. So, we'll just get another suitcase.
Tomorrow, we are up and out of here bright and early!
