Dominican beginnings

March 21. First light we take off again, looking forward to Port Salinas! Approximately 90 nautical miles. It will be another over nighter, but we are both rested now. We sail some when we can get an angle to the wind, but mostly motor sailing on calm water through the Canal de Beate dodging water bottles. We enjoy the ride. For the heck of it, I tune in the radio. We are able to get Dominican FM radio. So we listen to musica and pretend to understand.
Rounding Cabo Beata we get out into unprotected waters and the ride gets a little bumpy, but we get a better wind angle and gain a knot or two. As the sun sets the wind dies and the waves settle. We center the mainsail and motor on through the night. ETA is about 7am. I finished season 2 of The Longmire series! Thanks Kat & Will!
