Ensenada Honda Vieques

26 November 2015 | Vieques Spanish Virgin Islands
Richard
For Thanksgiving we were thankful for a calm secure comfortable anchorage all to ourselves. This is Ensenada Honda on the Island of Vieques. It is a documented hurricane hole.

When we depart Vieques, we will be heading for Culebra island and we will anchor in Ensenada Honda there too. Yes, both bays have the same name in two neighboring islands.

Vieques and Culebra are islands east of Puerto Rico, often referred to as the Spanish Virgin Islands.

Regarding my fore mentioned problem with the steaming light: Nicki hoisted me up the mast, and after 30 minutes of effort, I finally got the steaming light disassembled, only to find that there was nothing wrong with the light bulb. After much testing and crawling around in small spaces, I discovered that I have a bad wire. No, you guessed wrong. It is not a bad wire in the mast as one might expect. It a bad wire in the factory installed wiring harness. I refitted new connectors at both ends with no improvement. There is no way that I'll be able to track down the exact break. So, I'll just have to cut off both ends and re-run completely new wire. Uninstalling the old wire is impossible without cutting into the existing wiring harness.
