S/V Hello Texas

Fresh Lobster
Richard

Nicki approached a lobster fisherman that was harvesting in the bay. Nicki will talk to anybody : )

The really nice fisherman was quite willing to sell us some lobsters. He told us how the price of lobster has really come down... the fishermen were getting $3 per pound. He asked $9 for these three, we gave him $10. When that seafood restaraunt is charging you $27 for a lobster meal, it isn't the lobster fishermen that are getting rich.

A little exploring
Richard

We had several days to kill before we needed to fly back to Texas and the anchorages in Portland Maine are not particularly friendly or comfortable.

So, Marc brought us to this very friendly and comfortable anchorage. The locals would say that it was down-east from Portland.

Nicki and I did a little exploring via kayak.

Gloucester

Gloucester is a charming town with a reputation for fishing (from the movie). However, our unofficial count has the cruising/pleasure boats out numbering the fishing boats 2 to 1.

Still, fishing seems to be a thriving industry in this town.

The water front homes definately add to the character.
