Boot Key 2
26 March 2011 | Boot Key Harbor, Marathon, FL
Doug & Connie
3/26 – Today Connie went in early and washed the sheets before the crowd came in and took over the laundry facilities. She then came back and made bread. Then we spent some time getting the boat ready to start heading north. Added 15 gallons of diesel from the jerry jugs and then went to a marina and bought 18 more to replace it. The weather looks favorable for leaving here tomorrow and heading up to Vero Beach. It will take us about 4 days to get there is the weather is good all the way.
3/25 – Doug spent the working on taxes, but the good news is that we are making progress.
3/24 – Today we all got together on Mystic and took their boat out to Sombrero Reef National Sanctuary. The snorkeling was good and it was nice to see healthy coral here. There were a lot of fish of many kinds. The water was not as clear as we see in the Bahamas, but it was still pretty good. Connie’s new dive mask worked great. Marathon is a nice place in some ways – protected harbor, warm temperatures, - but there is not a lot to do here on a day to day basis and the shopping is all ½ to 1 mile away. A bicycle would be a must if one were to stay here long.
