Arthur
Early this morning we picked up our anchor and set sail for Port Resolution at the eastern tip of Tanna. Port Resolution was named after Captain Cook's ship. Its always cool to drop anchor in a spot where people like Captain Cook visited. The best is of course, when there has been virtually no change since then. Port Resolution is one of those spots. Its not really a port, just the name of a bay. Notably, there are still no current charts for the bay, google earth is actually the only way I found to get a look in advance. No buildings visible from the anchorage, and the signs of human life are just dug out canoes. Things have changed somewhat, though--we are not as likely to get eaten as we once would have been....
Another great thing about the sail here today was watching the occasional mushroom clouds that would puff up from Mt. Yasur. Mt Yasur is an active volcano-- we will visit it tomorrow. We've been told that when you hear loud booms, you need to be sure to look up and keep an eye on the molten rocks hurtling through the air. That way you can step out of the way if necessary.
