Arthur
Today we visited the island of Pentecost in Vanuatu. The home of land diving. The progenitor of bungee jumping. The picture is of one of the towers they jump from with vines tied to their ankles--the tower is about 60-70 ft high. The goal being to just touch their head to the ground. Stephen seems to be about the right age for this... Unfortunately they only jump during April, May, and June. So we are only able to see the tower, which is starting to fall apart. They build a new one each season. Its is just tied together with vines, so when the vines dry out, it starts to fall apart.
Nice night tonight. Its about 7:40 pm, very dark, and we were just visited by whales a few minutes ago. We heard some noises behind the boat and upon investigating we realized it was at least two whales breathing. One most likely a calf as it kept going up and down. We could also hear their singing.
Tomorrow we'll sail to Espiritu Santo, and start getting ready for our long passage to Indonesia.
