12/05/2009, Charleston, SC
I got up and continued on to the Charleston City Marina, where I planned to rest up and hopefully get better. When I still was no better after four days, I took a cab to the hospital and was admitted.
I underwent surgery for a fistula in my lower abdomen which had caused a bowel obstructioin and severe infection. I was released after three weeks and, within a few days was re-admitted for blood clots in both lungs. This stay lasted 5 days before I was released again on blood thinners. Any questions?
Anyway, now it looks like I'm going to be staying here for the forseeable future to receive follow-up treatment from my doctors and hopefully recover completely. Consequently, you won't be hearing much from me for a while.

10/22/2009, Georgetown, SC
Once again, I got the anchor up early and headed south. As I was passing through Myrtle Beach, I began to experience severe abdominal pain. By the time I had travelled the 60 miles to Georgetown, I was in pretty bad shape. I topped off the fuel and water and went to bed.

10/21/2009, Calabash Creek, SC
Raised the anchor at dawn and proceeded through the Frost Cut and into the Cape Fear River. As I proceeded down the river, I noticed a building incoming tidal current that was slowing my progress. It continued to build as I approached the mouth of the river.
As I left the river at Southport, it put the tidal current behind me which boosted my speed . I stopped for fuel and provisions at St James Plantation Marina before continuing on to the Calabash Creek in South Carolina, where I anchored for the night.

I got the anchor up at 0700 and left the anchorage. There was some early morning fog that burned off within an hour or so. I motored south to Carolina Beach and anchored in the basin behind the beach.

10/19/2009, Mile Hammock Bay, Camp Lejeune
It was still a little cool but sunny when I left Casper's Marina and continued south. The day was fairly uneventful as I motored down to Mile Hammock Bay in Camp Lejeune and anchored for the night. I was the first boat there but was soon joined by several others.
