Race to the Space Coast
21 March 2012 | Titusville, FL
Mike
Well, with good winds forcast for today, I got up at six and prepared to leave. I was hoping to make the Cocoa Beach area at least before stopping. With the projected winds, Titusville (about 90 miles) was not out of the question.
I got off the dock and out of the marina without difficulty and was under way by 7:45. It was a beautiful day and the winds were just as forcast; brisk and from the S/E. Consequently, I was able to make really good time. I motor-sailed the entire day and averaged better than 7 knots.
I arrived at Titusville at about 6:30, well before sunset. Not bad for a first day! Here's a picture of the sun rising over Cape Canaveral as viewed from Titusville, the following morning.
